The Dragon God and the Girl – Chapter 8: Clash of the Small and Large God’s

Flying at high altitude the three of them had to cast a small shield to keep the wind chill at bay. A few hours after leaving the capital came into sight. A blaze with fire the citizens of the capital were fleeing the city. Enemy soldiers were rounding up the fleeing people into groups at sword point. As the Minister of War’s manor was outside the capital I dropped the three of them off first before leaving to find Von.

“Make sure to save as many people as you can!”, Sillica ordered.

“Very well.”, I said nodding my head in confirmation.

Leaving them to find, and rescue Sillica’s mother I first stopped by the outskirts of the front gate. Watching from high up in the sky no one could see me as tonight was a new moon. As terrified families huddled together some of the soldiers decided that a bit of fun was in order. Separating females from their families they were going to satisfy their urges.

As Sillica had ordered me to save as many people as I could I followed the order. Letting out an ear-piercing roar everyone on the ground fell to the ground covering their heads. Even the soldiers couldn’t handle the pressure, and dropped their weapons to the ground. Landing on the ground the soldiers saw me right away. Glaring at them with my blood-red eyes some of them fainted.

“Who are you!? What do you want with us!?”, the remaining soldiers yelled unable to move.

“I AM DRACON THE DRAGON GOD OF DESTRUCTION!! MY MASTER THE GRANDDAUGHTER OF THE MINISTER OF WAR HAS ORDERED ME TO PROTECT THESE PEOPLE!!”, I said hoping this would help Sillica in the long run, “IF ANY HARM HAS BEEN DONE TO THESE PEOPLE I WILL BURN EACH OF YOU SOLDIERS TO ASHES!!”

Turning pale the soldiers took off running. Taking that as a sign that they had killed a few I stayed to true to my word. As the group cleared the innocent people I let loose a giant fire blast. Catching the fleeing soldiers easily the flames melted their armor to their skin before they turned to ashes. Feeling the heat from the flames the citizens were terrified as they was their captors die in agony. Looking back to me they asked where they should go.

“Head to the Minister of War’s manor. The fortifications there will help keep your families safe.”, I replied in a more mellow tone.

Running to the manor I waited to ensure that the guards would allow them access. Seeing the citizens enter without problem I flew into the city.

“VON THE DEMON OF DESPAIR SHOW YOURSELF BEFORE ME!! I WILL NOT HESITATE TO BURN THIS CITY TO THE GROUND TO FIND YOU!!”, I roared.

Emerging from the castle I found him, and his summoner, a young man, who was carrying the King’s bloodied crown.

“You are too late Dracon. This kingdoms ruler has already met his end!”, Von said.

“It matters little to me who lives, and who died in this conflict. A battle between deities is not something they would survive anyways.”, I replied hovering in the night sky, “However if you think this will end with your life you are sadly mistaken. When I am through with you your summoners country will feel my wrath for its war mongering. By tomorrow night the nation will burn red in the fires of its own destruction.”

“Even you wouldn’t go that far!”, he retorted, “You cherish this world far too much to burn it to the ground.”

“I will only burn the parts you, and your troublesome summoned deities have caused.”, I said as my scales started glowing red, “Now I will end you quickly…”

The surrounding air started crackling like a cliff face about to give way. Red cracks started covering the night sky over the capital. Seeing this Von started panicking.

“YOU WOULDN’T USE THAT HERE!!! ARE YOU INSANE YOU WILL WIPE THIS CITY OF THE FACE OF THE PLANET!!!”, he said trying to flee.

Sealing his movements by ramming earthen spikes through his legs I looked down on him.

“You chose this path of your own accord. Had you remained peaceful you would have been spared. Instead you lead the boy into slaughtering millions of people, and plunged his nation into a famine just for your amusement. I will rid you from existence you vile Demon!”, I roared.

The cracks in the sky opened up revealing giant red-eyes. Fixed on the city their magic power started building. All across the area the world was bathed in red light. Begging for his life I paided him no mind. Switching tactics he decided using his power on the gathered people at the Minister’s mansion. Before he could do anything I used my power.

“May the afterlife treat you as well as you deserve, Von.”, I roar, “MILLION EYES OF DESTRUCTION!!!”

Instantly all of the eyes rained down my destructive wrath on the capital. Vaporizing anything the beams of light the eyes gave off nothing could survived. Seering Von’s body the eyes burned his power away in the process. Diving at him I smashed him into the ground with swing of my tail. Killing his summoner instantly Von soon succumbed too, and vanished from existence. Being one of the lowest ranked Demons I was surprised he hadn’t died sooner. Ending the attack the entire city was wiped out. Not even a single brick remained in the entire area.

Flying back to the Minister’s manor I landed outside the gate. Peeking into one of the windows I found the Minister backed into a corner terrified of me. Letting the women leave without a word I waited till they were outside before I release my gaze. Extending my neck over the wall I looked at Sillica closely. Although beaten up pretty badly she was still able to walk without an issue. Her mother was still unconscious being carried by a very depressed Sandy.

“What is the matter?”, I asked.

“Peter…saved us.”, she said as she started to tear up, “He died protecting us!!”

The air temperature increased by over seventy degrees as the Minister’s guards started to panic. Having watched me level the capital without breaking a sweat they were extremely nervous with me being this close. Asking Sillica who was responsible she said her grandfather attempted to stab Sandy, and her. Peter who had been teleported here from the school for defense heard their screams. Taking the blow for them he bled out in a matter of moments in Sandy’s arms. Slowly turning my head to the man in question he didn’t seem fazed by me anymore.

“The boy was an idiot for saving them. Both wenches are useless trash as were their parents!”, he mocked, “My daughter was tricked by that useless man, and gave birth to a rotten child.”

Transforming into my human form I grabbed him by the neck, and slammed him into the tower wall. Cracks radiated out from the impact site up to the top of the tower. Looking at him I slowly started crushing his neck.

“You are a traitor, and a horrible father!”, I said, “Humans like you make me think holding back is a wasted effort. All you do is feast on the heartache of others.”

“What do you mean traitor?”, some of the citizens asked.

“The man is in charge of this nations military yet I saw not a single soldier in the capital.”, I said, “Not only that, but somehow they managed to get in to the country without notice. Add in the fact that not a single village, or city was attacked you can draw only one conclusion.”

The mood in the area suddenly became hostile. Glaring at everyone the Minister started laughing hysterically.

“You fools think your lives were of any value!”, he mocked, “The most you are worth is a few silver coins in the slave market! This country has been on the verge of collapse for almost three generations now. A change was needed before we would be completely destroyed. In exchange for the life of every single person in the capital I would become lord of this shit hole under our new ruler.”

“Did you think I wouldn’t stop you?!”, I said sinking him further into the wall.

“We had hoped after the King had died you would move on. Neither of us expected you would easily destroy the place without a second thought.”, he said coughing up a lung.

“I see…you, and that boy’s father will be in for a rude awakening.”, I said throwing him into the crowd.

Jumping out of the manor courtyard I assumed my full form. Blacking out the sky completely no light from the sky could be seen for miles.

“HEED MY WARNING MORTALS! SIDING WITH ANY DEITY THAT SEEKS THE DESTRUCTION OF OTHERS WITHOUT DUE CAUSE WILL BURN YOUR NATION IN MY WRATH!!”, I roared.

Under me the ground cracked under the sheer pressure from my wings blasting air downwards. Ripping trees from their roots the nearby forests were torn apart like they were mere thin sheets of paper. Taking only a few moments to be at the border I began torching the enemy country. Not a soul was spared from my anger as all of them had so easily let the other nations they conquered feed them. Engulfed in flames hotter than the sun the fires spread across the kingdom in the blink of an eye. Hundreds of miles away you could see the night sky turn red as the country burned to ashes people, and all.

Back at the former Minister of War’s manor the people watched as their former neighbor nation was gone instantly. Looking at Morgonia she said that I was holding back quite a bit. Telling them that I could have easily sunk the whole nation into the core of the planet they all shivered in fear. Satisfied with my work I rejoined the citizens in the courtyard in my human form. Everyone wasn’t sure how to treat me now for fear I would destroy them.

“I have been given orders by my master to save you.”, I said, “Even without her telling me so I wouldn’t harm you. Those of you standing here are hard-working, law-abiding citizens of this nation. Not one of you can be faulted for that, and I will not let you suffer anymore. Your neighbors took nations over just so its people could live a life of ease. They have found out now that they need to work for themselves, and not take from others to provide for their needs.”

Relieved the people relaxed a bit. Embracing me tightly Sillica checked me for any injuries concerned I might be hurt. Not finding anything she brought me over to her mother. Currently still in a coma Sillica asked if I could bring her out of it. Placing my hand on her head I focus my energy carefully as to prevent any injuries. Clearing her system of the toxin she came around quickly.

“Where am I?”, she asked still in a haze.

Looking around she stopped when she saw Sillica. Straining her memory she suddenly realized who she was. Tears overflowed from her face as she hugged Sillica tightly.

“My baby girl!!!”, she said, “I am so sorry darling!! I am such a horrible mother for leaving my darling little girl all alone. Your grandfather…he hasn’t been cruel to you, has he?”

Breaking down into tears she told her mother everything. Holding her daughter closely she started realizing how long she had been out. Having just realized her daughter was in her final year at the academy she began to cry as well. All of the years she lost with her daughter hit her hard. Her first words, her first time walking, her first day at the academy all of it was long past. This was a warming moment even for me till one man had to ruin it.

“You idiot! That girl has been nothing, but problems just like her father!! You will step away from the trash, and take your rightful place as my daughter. Forget about her!”, he snapped.

“I will do no such thing! She is my daughter no matter what you say!”, her mother said, “My husband tried to warn me you were nothing, but a cruel man. I doubted him, and before I knew it he passed away as my baby was taken from me! I am not your daughter nor will I abandon my baby!”

Rushing towards them I stepped in between them.

“Move you stupid animal!”, he snapped.

“I have tolerated all I can of fools for a single day!!”, I snapped landing a gut punch.

Dropping to his knees coughing up a large amount of blood he glared at me. Before he could utter another word I rammed my fist down his throat killing him. Lighting his corpse on fire I cracked my neck releasing my pent-up stress. Looking back the mother, and daughter were happy to be together again as they embraced. Leaving them alone for a bit I went to see Peter.
